What is ahead: nonlinear notes app excavation, a poem or something, one tarot card, announcements, a beautiful photograph
The road is familiar, there is a bridge ahead,
a great body of water,
it is dark, there is a bridge,
there is a wind at your back,
there is no turning back, there is water,
there is flooded grass,
there is the emptiness of darkness,
the road has a current, swift
the road has a widening, slow
there is not a bridge, you must swim, you must fly
there is a leaf, there is a thought
there it goes
-thoughts on meditating
I pulled the Knight of Cups, as my brother knocked on my door for coffee. We were meeting up to work on my Dad’s eulogy. Some decks illustrate this card with a knight atop a horse, hand outstretched holding a single golden cup. The deck I pulled from this day showed two horses galloping, strides in sync, and the prized goblet in the foreground. Nod to siblinghood.
You know I love to converse with psychopomps. The Knight of Cups appears to be one for sure.
His feet are winged like Mercury, yet he chooses to journey with his horse companion, trot pace of hooves syncing up with the inhale/exhale. The journey though liminal and emotional realms is represented by the suit of cups. The Knight represents a shift in the pacing or direction of a path that I have already been on. There is a chance here to admire the view (the long way back) and to connect with inner strength. There is a sense of trust with this card, earned through taking things one day at a time. The psychopomp is wise because they match the pace of companionship with a steady, unwavering commitment. We will not be alone as we step into the unknown. That is true. That is dignity I think.
Updates-
First announcement is that you won’t be hearing much from me in April, I am taking the month to prepare for my Dad’s celebration of life gathering, which is early in May.
Second is that I have been selected to be one of the resident artists in the VisArts Center’s studio access program!! Which means I will have 6 months of access to printmaking studios starting in May. So I will also be using the month ahead to plan and dream up what I can bring to FRUITion in the upcoming year. Excited to share more on this as it all comes my way.
